Fair Trade at the Dorchester House

FairTrade is a trading system that allows producers in poor countries to sell their products at a price that helps them to work their way out of poverty.

The producers are guaranteed a fair price for their produce. A fair price means a price that pays:

  • a living wage for all involved
  • all costs of production using safe working practices
  • to invest in community projects such as a clean water supply, a medical centre, or a roof for the local school
  • producers to maintain the current high quality of goods and improve on them where possible
  • for environmental improvements which in some cases means moving to organic methods

Dorchester House aims to supply Fair Trade tea and coffee in all of it's bedrooms and at breakfast time.

You can find out more about FairTrade at the FairTrade website or about the Keswick and District Fair Trade Campaign here.
